The real story behind Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34

The movie is inspired from the true story of Jet Airways Doha-Kochi flight. The incident took place in 2015 when the flight had a narrow escape after facing difficulties in landing at the airport due to bad weather and unclear visibility. The pilots had to make a ‘blind’ landing on the runway without actually seeing it. This nearly put the lives of 150 people on board the ship, and as a result, the captain was demoted to the rank of co-pilot.

The teaser introduces us to the air turbulence experienced by pilots and co-pilots Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh. Next, we see Amitabh Bachchan explaining the law of gravity to Ajay Devgn and saying that what goes up also comes down. This indicates tension and turbulence in the overall look and feel of the film.

Ajay Devgn, who has endorsed the film as a producer under his banner Ajay Devgn FFilms, shared the video and wrote, “The truth is hidden 35,000 feet above the ground.”

The film’s two official trailers build anticipation around the events that took place. The first pilot introduces the audience to the difficult journey of Vikrant Khanna who finds himself in the middle of an air crash. This is followed by a face-off between him and an investigating officer played by Amitabh Bachchan, who is curious to know why the pilot chose to land on Runway 34.

The second trailer further uncovers the investigation, revealing how the flight enters a storm due to bad weather. As both the Captain and First Officer attempt to perform damage control and avoid the accident, they arrive at a series of decisions that raise suspicion within the control room. The two-minute long trailer captures the emotions of all those involved in the life-changing, tragic episode.

Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn is seen playing the role of Captain Vikrant Singh, who is leading his co-pilot in the aircraft. In the teaser, Devgn’s character looks anxious as he tries to make indiscriminate landing amidst inclement weather. Apart from Runway 34, he was last seen as a cop in the Disney+ Hotstar series Rudra: The Age of Darkness.

Rakul Preet Singh

The actress will be seen playing the role of Ajay Devgn’s co-pilot, who also gets caught in a panic situation as they struggle to make their flight. Singh’s last Hindi film was Sardar’s grandson starring Arjun Kapoor, and she will next be seen in Doctor Ji, Attack and Thank God.

Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan, playing the character of Narayan Vedanta, plays the role of an officer. It is believed that he was questioning Ajay in the teaser about what happened when he was trying to land the plane. Here when Bachchan talks about the law of gravitation.

Boman Irani

Boman Irani is also in the lead. However, nothing has been revealed about his character so far. The actor was last seen in Ranveer Singh’s 83 and will be next seen in Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
